National digital security specialist CyberSecurity Malaysia has established its own Cyber Security Marketplace on VADS Marketplace, following the signing of a five-year partnership.
The collaboration with ICT/BPO services providerr VADS, a subsidiary of Telekom Malaysia, is intended to help enhance national cybersecurity preparedness by cultivating diverse awareness on security capacity building across all market segments, including the government, small and medium enterprise, and consumer sectors.
Commenting on the partnership signing today (13 April 2017) at VADS Kuala Lumpur office, CyberSecurity Malaysia’s chairman General Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Panglima Mohd Azumi B. Mohamed (Retired) (pictured below) said: “Cybercrime is a real threat to our digital way of life. With the country embracing the Digital Economy, we recognise the importance of having a strategic partner to effectively combat the broadening range of cyber threats.”
“This partnership with VADS is significant to ensure that continuous efforts to develop the country’s team of cyber security professionals, and create a more secure and resilient cyber environment,” he said.
CyberSecurity Malaysia’s initial offering on the VADS Marketplace, which is a business to business (B2B) online platform, will comprise a total of 26 online cybersecurity awareness courses to further help market segments. Some of these courses – such as CyberSafe Awareness and CyberSecurity Essential – are already available for download.
VADS role
Also present, Kairul Annuar Mohamed Zamzam, executive Vice President, Government who is also the chairman of Managed Accounts for Telekom Malaysia (TM), talked of VADS’ role in this partnership.
“At VADS, we provide the platform not only to assist CyberSecurity Malaysia in combating cyber threats, but to also help drive CyberSecurity Malaysia in digitalising proactive programmes that will drive the nation in parallel with the era of digitalisation,” said Kairul.
“This is in line with our position as Malaysia’s Convergence Champion, committed to delivering ‘Life and Business Made Easier’ across five (5) pillars namely Smarter Living, Smarter Businesses, Smarter Cities, Smarter Communities, and Smarter Nation,” he said.
“This partnership also provides us the opportunity to demonstrate our capabilities in the provision of converged communications services and solutions that will fulfil the needs of businesses, and ultimately to bring that seamless digital experience to the customers they serve,” Kairul added.
He said VADS will be responsible for identifying target markets and promotion of CyberSecurity Malaysia’s online courses via VADS Marketplace, a platform that is enabled by VADS Cloud eXchange.
CyberSecurity Malaysia’s Mohd Azumi added that the agency will be responsible for developing various cyber security competency and capability training programmes and knowledge-sharing platforms for ICT professionals, through its Cyber Security Professional Development Programme.
