State-of- the-art IOC will serve as smart services operations centre for township, commercial and residential nationwide

Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM), via Inneonusa, a tripartite joint venture between TM, UEM Sunrise Bhd (UEM Sunrise) and Iskandar Investment Berhad (IIB) today officially announces the readiness of its Integrated Operations Centre (IOC) in Iskandar Puteri, Johor.

The IOC, the first ever in Malaysia, will serve as a centralised command centre for Internet of Things (IoT) operations of smart city services. This will enable Inneonusa to provide a single nationwide monitoring dashboard to coordinate operations of smart services involving physical devices and sensors, vehicles, buildings as well as incidents and events.

Telekom Malaysia Berhad Group Chief Executive Officer Tan Sri Zamzamzairani Mohd Isa, commented about the IOC set-up by saying, “The aim of the IOC is to manage the operations of smart services nationwide such as smart ICT, safety and security, smart mobility, city-wide services, energy and facilities management, digital signages as well as citizen portal. The efficiency of the IOC relies on the information and communications by a large pool of sensor network. This means optimising a city’s operations to make it a better place to live, work and play for its community as outlined in our promise, ‘Life Made Easier.”

“Smart Services which are knitted together by the IoT offer the prospects of people and businesses doing more with less in enhancing safety and security to create sustainable and privileged communities. UEM Sunrise is thrilled to be part of this broader smart city initiative as it integrates a diverse range of technologies for safe cities. This bodes well with the Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (“CPTED”) principle - a multi-disciplinary approach to deter criminal behaviour implemented at our various projects and built environments which is in line with our positioning in Iskandar Puteri as a value-driven developer of smart communities surrounded by catalytic developments creating a unique lifestyle,” said Dato’ Izzaddin Idris, Executive Director of UEM Sunrise who is also the Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of UEM Group Berhad.

Datuk Syed Mohamed Syed Ibrahim, President & Chief Executive Officer of Iskandar Investment Berhad (IIB) also added, “The launch of IOC reflects our continued dedication towards sustainability, which is part of our core vision for the region. The partnership reflects the dedication and commitment of key stakeholders in Iskandar Malaysia to creating a vibrant and attractive business and lifestyle environment. As a driver of catalytic investments, we look forward to sustaining the momentum as we help transform Iskandar Malaysia into a global player in innovation and sustainability.”

A smart city operates via people, embedded electronics, software, sensors, and network connectivity that enables the data to be collected, exchanged and analysed into valuable and timely information at the IOC. The IOC in turn, provides 24/7 support throughout the year via Artificial Intelligence (AI) based proactive monitoring with services such as situational awareness, smart services analytics, emergency response as well as alarm management.

In Iskandar Puteri, these smart services are for the various property development projects owned by UEM Sunrise and IIB such as Puteri Harbour, East Ledang, Ledang Heights, Gerbang Nusajaya, Southern Industrial and Logistics Clusters (SiLC), and EduCity.
