Telekom Malaysia’s business process outsourcing provider VADS has signed an agreement for technology services giant IBM Malaysia to power Malaysia’s first Virtual Private Cloud [VPC].
VADS chief executive officer Ahmad Azhar Yahya said the VPC is intended to meet the needs of enterprises in the country with a full suite of customised cloud computing services with the Malaysian-hosted cloud service.
“We noticed a strong demand amongst our customers for an affordable, reliable, secure and versatile computing platform; and our VPC is able to meet these business needs,” said Ahmad Azhar.
“Depending on user requirements, the VPC can act as a secondary Data Centre for organisations, which may already have existing IT infrastructure at their premise,” he said.
“Our Data Centres and Cloud Service are both ISO 27001-certified while our network is powered by Telekom Malaysia’s high-speed IP network with domestic and global coverage,” said Ahmad Azhar. “This VPC offering complements VADS’ existing cloud offering and as an Integrated Managed Services provider, the VPC will enable VADS to provide value added services which in turn will enhance our customers’ experience.”
He said the implementation of cloud ready infrastructure and innovative solutions will simplify and enhance business operations by making the infrastructure fully automated to increase user experience and control. “The deployment will also include Backup-as-a-Service and Disaster Recovery-as-a-Service to ensure data protection and business continuity.”
“IBM has a proven record of successful partnerships with communications service providers globally and we are keen to replicate this success with VADS,” said IBM Malaysia managing director, Paul Moung. “We are excited to work with VADS to develop this robust cloud infrastructure and create superior service experience for our clients. We envision tremendous cloud opportunity in Malaysia and both VADS and IBM are expected to benefit from this partnership.”
The agreement, which was signed by VADS’ Ahmad Azhar and IBM Malaysia’s Moung, was witnessed by Datuk Mohd. Badlisham Ghazali, chief executive officer of national ICT agency Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC).
VADS Berhad (VADS) was a joint venture formed in 1991 between IBM Global Network Services and Telekom Malaysia Berhad, which is now a wholly owned subsidiary of Telekom Malaysia.
